Why its unusual: A catchy melody cant mask the lyrics of this unusual love song. While many love songs attempt to make the love interest sound appealing in terms of personality or temperament, this one makes no attempt whatsoever. The singer goes on and on about the nose, eyes, and lips of a woman he finds beautiful. By the off-chance a woman DOES finds these lyrics appealing, well be sure to take this off of the unusual list. You and your pussycat nose! 4) She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5  (2002) Overview: A man sings about his  obsession with making a sad girl happy. Why its unusual: The singer drives miles and miles to wait outside the house of an insecure, vulnerable 18-year-old woman. Regardless of how the woman feels, the singer says he wouldnt mind  standing on her street corner in the pouring rain, waiting for her to approach him. Even though the sentiment of sweetness is there,  the imagery of a street stalker sours this unusual  love songs mood  a bit. Example lyrics: I know where you hide Alone in your car Know all of the things that make you who you are I know that goodbye means nothing at all 5) Ben by Michael Jackson (1972) Overview: A boy sings about his new friendship and how it makes him feel. Why its unusual: Its not a traditional love song, but it  exhibits many qualities of one; loneliness, insecurity, and understanding. What makes this love song unusual is the fact that its about a boy professing his admiration for his pet rat. It was originally written for a movie about a rat named Ben, but it eventually sold itself as a single, even ranking #20 on the Billboard Top 100 during its release. While its still a nice song about a childs  love for a pet, its not as deep as a traditional love song  would usually permit. Why its unusual: While couples usually thrive because they share common interests, the singer  here thrives off of dating a carbon copy of himself. Its nice to admire the qualities of a person who  you think reflects your own traits, but calling them a mirror  voids them of any individuality. Play this song for someone you love when  youre feeling especially narcissistic. Why its unusual: Upon first listen, you  may be too distracted by the upbeat nature of the song to  really listen to the lyrics. The lyrics start with the singer trapped outside, freezing in the rain, hoping to be let inside by his ex-girlfriend. He made a mistake in their past relationship and tries to justify it by saying, Without the sour, the sweet wouldnt taste as In just a couple verses later, the song  quickly turns into the tale of a desperate stalker breaking into his  exs house and  waiting under her bed until she wakes up. Survey Finds That College Students Need More Incentive to Get Vaccinated via Pixabay The survey revealed many new insights, such as new insights into increasing participation in vaccination programs on campuses, such as the fact that while a majority of college students in the U.S. (70%) believe it is important to get an annual flu vaccine, less than half (46%) actually get vaccinated. With these results, the NFID wanted to know how to best incentivize students into getting their vaccines. They found that with access to the vaccine at low or no cost (61%) and enticements, such as free food or gift cards (61%), students say it would increase their likelihood of getting vaccinated. The reason that it is so important that college students receive vaccinations is that they are at particularly high risk of getting, and spreading, the flu. This is because the college lifestyle leaves them open to frequent exposure to high-touch areas like common living spaces and classrooms, as well as their participation in social activities. “As a healthcare community, we’ve long known that college students are profoundly under-vaccinated. This new research indicates that a combination of education and incentives may be an effective way to reach college students who have been apprehensive about vaccination in the past,” said NFID Board member, Lisa S. Ipp, M.D., Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine, Associate Director of Adolescent Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children’s Hospital. “We now plan to work with academic, health, advocacy and student leaders to share these insights and uncover additional best practices to drive improvements in flu immunization efforts on campuses.”

(The company makes money through a crowdsourced translation service.)Med ium of InstructionDuolingo lessons are not really lessons, but a bunch of activities done one after the other. The modules take you on a series of tasks you need to perform, like pairing words with their correct translations, or sequencing words in order to come up with a grammatically-correct sentence. By performing the activities, the idea is that youll embed the lessons and words into your long-term memory.Duolingo has a game-ified philosophy when it comes to language learning. The whole interface looks like a game where you earn points for correct answers. The progress bars gives you a visual indication of your performance, and the program  gives you a heads-up on the specific words and areas that need improvement.Content DepthBecause of the nature of the exercises and activities, theres also a limit on the things that you can learn through Duolingo. The program is great when it comes to learning vocabulary with spaced repetition technology, and decent when it comes to grammar e xplanations. Its also great at deconstructing language into its word components.In summary, its a good basics course, but cannot really be a standalone source for someone who wants to learn a language. Duolingo is best as a supplement to more robust content.Target SkillDuolingo allows you to practice your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. But dont expect to become fluent just from using this program. At best, it scratches only the surface of these skills.For example, more focus could be given to really speaking the language, instead of just enunciation. In Duolingo, youre only asked to repeat what you hear, and theres really not a strong communicative component.But that said, your basic skills do get a workout.AestheticsI have only great things to say about the interface of Duolingo.
